Dogstar

Ladies and gentlemen...let me introduce to you my favorite band...DOGSTAR!

Dogstar is a US/Canadian-three-man-combo consisting of Bret Domrose (guitar), Rob Mailhouse (drums) and, ...what was his name, Billy Smith (bass-guitar and hockey-goalie). Anyway, names are not important, they simply make great music which I enjoy very much. Their style remembers me of The Ramones (sorry, no expert in music, so if I'm wrong please forgive me). When I first listened to some of their music this spring I decided to get tickets for their both German concerts in Berlin (10th July) and Duesseldorf (11th July). So I took the chance, as my friend Tina had birthday that time and I didn't know what to get her as a present. I got tickets for us both, put her into my car and drove the 300 miles up to Berlin and the day after the 400 miles from Berlin to Duesseldorf. Dogstar was not known to the German audience, but, nevertheless, there were a lot of screaming 15-year-old-girls (now I know where all the Take-That-fans have gone). I felt a little uncomfortable being one of the rare male visitors, but was proud of being there because of the music. And I wasn't disappointed about that at all, the concert was FUN!
I had been in email-contact with three other girls who also wanted to go there. Today I'm still in contact with Joy (Germantown, MD, USA), Ursula (Bournemouth, UK) and Helen (Hamburg, Germany) and I consider them as some of my best friends. I would not have met them without Dogstar, so, thanks for that, guys!
Apart from the music, the highlight of the gigs for me was meeting Dan, the merchandise-man and fan-club-administrator of Dogstar. Well, I wasn't really interested in perhaps meeting the band-members (they have more than enough fans, which may be annoying sometimes, so they don't need me in addition) and we didn't have much time for that, but talking to Dan was nice, which I would like to repeat sometimes a little longer, if possible.
If you want to see photos of us and a more detailed concert-report of the German gigs, then click here.
In the meantime, their first CD "Quattro Formaggi", a 4-track interactive CD (audio-only-version also available in Europe) is out and their first full length album is to be published on 17th September (in some parts of Europe and Asia) or Febrauary '97 (in the US), don't miss it!
If I made you interested in Dogstar and you want to get further informations then visit Dogstar's and/or my friend Roxy's homepage
or the Breeze Zone, who made a great report on the English Dogstar-concerts.

Ok, Dan, this site is for you for being so patient in replying to our e-mails, publishing the Canis Major and doing all the fan-club- and merch-stuff for us *annoying* kids! Thanks!
